Please see the updated information below.
Two good news we like to share:
1. We were able to get Coliseum booked for both dates without any additional cost. Most likely Eid will be on Thursday May 13th 2021 but in case Eid is on May 12th it will be at the same location, Coliseum. Salat will start at 8AM. As it's a drive-in event so it may take a long time to drive in and out of the event therefore prepare yourself for delays and expect to be there for a longer time.
2. Second good news is that there will be a Car Eid Parade after the Salat. If you are interested, bring your car decorated and stay at your parking spot after Salat for more directions.
We are pleased to inform you that we will be arranging Salat-Al-Eid at Moncton Coliseum just like last year. Most likely it will be on Thursday May 13th 2021 and salat will start at 8AM(Same location and plan In case moon is sighted early and Eid is on May 12th). Due to pandemic conditions and restriction on indoor gatherings we have arranged it outside. Eid prayers will be in Moncton Coliseum Parking lot at 377 Killam Dr, Moncton. An area in the parking lot will be reserved for this event.
This will be a drive-in prayer. You will drive in and park the car as instructed by the volunteers on site keeping one parking space empty between each car. Everyone will pray in the car if it's raining or use the empty parking space beside your car to pray using your own prayer mat. We are setting up a radio transmitter in the parking lot. Imam will broadcast khutbah and prayers through radio transmitter. Each car will tune in to the FM 90.1 radio to listen in and follow Imam.
We have worked very hard to get approvals and make these arrangements therefore we expect everyone to follow below rules (volunteers will be on site to enforce these rules, you must follow volunteer instructions).
These are the rules you MUST follow:
Register for Eid prayers online using the link below. You can book up to 6 people (whole family) in one ticket or book multiple tickets. Show your booking confirmation at entrance on the phone or print out.
This is an open event for all Muslims, and everyone will be allowed in, there is no limit for the number of people. Only difference is if you come without online booking then you will be given paper to fill in your contact information. This will cause delay and therefore we highly recommend that you register online.
If you have any of the following symptoms: fever/feverish, sore throat, headache, runny nose, a new cough; or worsening chronic cough, new onset of fatigue or muscle ache, diarrhea, loss of taste or smell; in children, purple markings on the fingers or toes? If you have any of these symptoms leading to Eid prayers, then stay home and do not come for prayers. If you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or in close contact with someone with COVID-19 then stay home. If you have traveled outside of New Brunswick in the past 2 weeks of the Eid, then stay home.
There will be one entrance through Killam drive and one exit through 11 September Ave. All other entry and exits will be blocked. Follow instructions of on-site volunteers to enter and exit (map attached).
Stay in your car for prayers or use the empty parking space beside your car. DO NOT GO TO OTHER CARS OR SOCIALIZE. SPECIALLY AFTER EID PRAYERS, DO NOT GO TO OTHER PEOPLE AND SHAKE HAND OR HUG EVEN IF THEY ARE IN YOUR BUBBLE. IF YOU DO THAT YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE.
Everyone must wear a mask even when you are outside. MASK IS MANDATORY, THAT INCLUDED All PEOPLE IN THE CAR. WE WILL NOT BE PROVIDING ANY MASKS.
Bring your own prayer mats.
If you have young kids, we highly recommend that you ask them to stay in the car or stay with you at all times. We do not want kids leaving your assigned space and running in the parking lot.
We have worked very hard to get approvals and make these arrangements.
PLEASE DO NOT BLOW THIS. PEOPLE WILL BE WATCHING, MEDIA AND RCMP MAY BE ON SITE, THEREFORE YOU MUST FOLLOW ABOVE RULES. THE IMAGE OF OUR COMMUNITY LIES ON HOW WE WILL BEHAVE.
We will appreciate your understanding and look forward to seeing you all at the Eid Prayers.
If you do not have a car then try to carpool with the family and friends in your bubble. You can also take a bus to Coliseum and we will provide you a space for prayers.
Salat will start at 8AM. As it's a drive-in event so it may take a long time to drive in and out of the event therefore prepare yourself for delays and expect to be there for up to 2 hours.
